Abstract

The BellaTek Encode System introduced an innovative concept of a healing abutment-level impression. As the coded healing abutment is unscrewed only at the placement session, the mucosal barrier at an implant is preserved and the clinical process is simplified. The laboratory process is also streamlined, as the entire process of a definitive dental implant abutment is outsourced and a dental technician fabricates only a definitive crown on a modified cast by robotic drilling or a stereolithography additive cast. However, potential errors may occur in the fabrication process of the casts. In addition, this system is available to only a specific implant system. This article describes a fully integrated digital workflow to overcome the limitations with a newly developed coded healing abutment. With the merging of advanced digital technologies, an implant-supported prosthesis can be accurately fabricated in an hour with minimized abutment dis/reconnection and no physical cast.
